Demonstrating Engineering Success

Four of the School's engineering students are celebrating their success at our annually held Student Project's Competition.  The competition is held to recognise the efforts of final year undergraduate students studying on accredited engineering degrees at Universities in the North East of England.  Each of the Universities select students to take part in the competition.  This year the competition was held at Durham University on the 10th March.  Each student gave a talk about their work to the judges and IET members.

The competition was judged by two of our committee members, Ian Finch a former network Chairman and Martyn Walsh also a member of our branch and the current Young Professionals Chairman.  Both judges are practising Chartered Electrical Engineers working in the electrical and electronic engineering sector.

The winners were:

Supipi Weerasinghe - Investigation into local effects due to Electric Vehicle Charging Patterns.

Jun Fei Yan - Development of RISC Microcontroller with Concurrent Error Detection

Lincan Huang - Analysis of Existing and Future Power Networks (Smart Grid)

Yao Chen - Design and Development of Environmental Measurement
