The speaker, Fred Kirkby, will relate the fascinating story of how he became involved with a power station in China, the companies involved, the unique features of the setup and his steep learning curve!
About the speaker
After an apprenticeship with the CEGB, Fred was involved with the construction and commissioning of several power stations in the UK. He later became Deputy Station Manager and then Station Manager at the Isle of Grain power station, the largest oil-fired station in the UK (now owned by PowerGen). From 1994-97 he was Generation Manager, dealing with a variety of special projects including the sale of two large coal-fired power station to Eastern Electricity. Since 1997 he has been engaged in part time consultancy in the power-generation field.
