About this event
Ray will describe the background to the magnificent triple-expansion steam engines at Kempton Pumping Station. He will outline the history and development of London's water suppy system and will show the part played by Kempton in meeting the demand. The magnificent engines are believed to be the largest triple-expansion machines in the world and have been lovingly restored by a dedicated team of volunteers. The talk will be a precursor to a "Steaming Day" at the pumping station on November 15/16.
