Mike Groom has spent his working life in power generation mainly involved in operation and commissioning, Initially, this was in a range of central power stations. More recently, he has been concerned with Energy from waste plants.
The talk will summarise the history of the steam turbine.
It will describe some of the notable steam turbines that the speaker has come across during his career. These will be used to illustrate the developments in design and operation of steam turbines over the last century.
