Welcome

The IET welcomes Engineers and Technologists from everywhere in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, to join its technical communities and participate in its local events and other activities. Approximately 120,000 IET members reside in this Region, served by our Local Networks and Specialist Technical Networks, which encompass the entire breadth of engineering disciplines within the Institution.

Our networks within the UK

There are 44 Local Networks spread throughout this region.  Each Network is run by a group of enthusiastic IET volunteers, who organise and provide events, visits, lectures and other activities for the public in their local geographic area of the UK.  Visit our in your area page to find your nearest contact, and view the calendar of events to see upcoming events being held close to you.

The IET has Specialist Technical Networks in many different areas of engineering.  Please follow this link for an up to date listing and an invitation to join the community of your choice. Many events organised by the Specialist Technical Networks are held within the UK Region.
