The European Rail Traffic Management System replaces signals with VDUs in the train cabs. These indicate the whether or not it is safe to continue the journey or not. It has the facility to stop the train automatically if warning signals are ignored.
This lecture will cover the principles of the system based on multi-functional Passenger and Freight operation.
A joint lecture with the Derby Railway Engineering Society.
