Engineering Minds - New Directions in Artificial Intelligence - Wed 10/02/10

Can machines have subjective feelings?  Come to this event to get a fascinating glimpse into a future where machines might behave in ways that have hitherto been thought to be the preserve of humans.
Professor Aleksander is a world authority on Artificial Intelligence and has already given a particularly well-received lecture to the IET London Network.

Energy Optimised Green Data Centres - Wed 24/02/10

Members and guests are welcome to attend the above event which is being hosted by The Hertfordshire Branch of the BCS
eLEAn will be Europe's greenest data centre campus. Incorporating 350,000 square feet of data centre in 35 x 10,000 square feet halls, using two-stage absorption cooling, we will be able to reduce energy cost within the data centre by 30% and take at least 40% carbon dioxide equivalents out of normal data centre operations.

 

Lifeskills Workshop - Networking for Success - Thurs 25/02/10

Everyone needs a little help at times, but finding and accessing that help isn?t always easy. This event is for all but particularly applicable to those working towards professional registration.

 

Electronic Ballot Counting - Wed 10/03/10

Steve Beats, DRS Head of R&D, will demonstrate the technology behind "e-counting" and relate it to traditional manual counting. 

 

Visit to RAF Museum - Thurs 18/03/10

The Royal Air Force Museum displays over 100 aircraft, most of which can be inspected at close quarters.
We will take a private tour of the museum with our own expert guide in the morning.  We can then take lunch together in the Museum's restaurant and individuals can choose to tour the museum at their own pace in the afternoon.

 

Protecting Our Armed Forces - A Historical Overview of Electronic Warfare - Wed 24/03/10

The focus of Electronic Warfare is protecting our own armed forces.  Chris Perry will trace its fascinating history from the Boer War to the present day.  His talk will be illustrated by stories from his own experience as a specialist in this field with the Royal Navy, much of it on the front line.

 

Lifeskills Workshop - Building a Portfolio of Evidence - Thurs 6/05/10

This event is aimed predominantly at students and those working towards professional registration, though all are welcome to attend this Young Professionals organised event. This practical session takes you on to the next steps of gathering and presenting your evidence.

Please note Lifeskills Workshop - Building a Portfolio of Evidence has a revised date of 6th May 2010 at Cranfield University. Event details will be published shortly.

The Mosquito Museum visit has been changed from the Programme Booklet advertised date, 21st November 2009, to March 2010.  The exact date will be posted in the New Year.
