IET Australia shall exist to undertake the practices and activities as specified by the member Branches from time to time. The local networks within the geographical area of Australia shall be member branches of IET Australia.
The names of the founding local networks and the areas served shall be as follows:

IET Australia shall have the following responsibilities:
A Council shall be established to implement the IET Australia's responsibilities.
The Council shall comprise one corporate member, ideally the incumbent Local Network Chairman, appointed by each Local Network Committee as its representative.
A Local Network should ensure that its representative is sufficiently experienced and informed to represent the Local Network adequately, local network members and separate special interests within IET Australia.
A Local Network Committee may also nominate a corporate member as an alternate member to attend a Council meeting in the absence of its representative. An alternate member shall have the same powers and duties at a Council meeting as the representative.
The Council shall:
IET Australia shall elect annually from its representatives a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman, an Honorary Secretary and an Honorary Treasurer as Office Bearers for a one-year term commencing 1 October. An Office Bearer shall not be eligible for re-election for more than three consecutive terms to one office.
The election of these Office Bearers shall not create any vacancies on the Council.
IET Australia may appoint working parties for special purposes consisting of members of the Council and others.
The business of IET Australia shall be undertaken utilising electronic communication. The Council may meet physically to carry out the business of IET Australia where the costs associated with such a meeting can be justified for the business at hand to be resolved.
Four nominated representatives or alternative members shall comprise a quorum at a meeting of IET Australia or at any time a decision is taken by electronic means.
Each year IET Australia will nominate a member to serve on Council for a period of one year from 1 October next following. No member shall fill this role for more than three years in succession.
IET Australia's operations will be funded through an annual business plan submitted to IET management for approval.
