New England Network committee

The New England Network Executive Committee encourages any member interested in helping to run the local network to contact them with a view to election as one of the honorary officers or as a member.

The IET New England Network Executive Committee is composed of four officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer), up to six Members at Large, up to eight Corresponding Members and all Past Chairs.

The four officers and up to six Members at Large are elected annually for a one year term that begins on October 1 and ends the following September 30. The Chair may run for a maximum of two consecutive terms, no term limits are specified for the other offices.

The Chair, with approval of the Committee, may appoint up to eight Corresponding Members when that person has a special interest or capability of value to the local network but whose situation prevents their regular attendance at Committee meetings. Some Corresponding Members are in places where the IET has membership, but has not established a local network.

Any Committee member may be asked by the Committee to accept a specific task or responsibility and be so appointed by the Chair. Examples of assigned tasks are the arrangement of events, nominations and webmaster.

Proposed by Michael Whitelaw, Ernest Hickin was chosen as the New England Network's first chair person in 1997. Michael did not run for chair himself till 2004, preferring to focus on more regional matters.
