Visit to the new NEAT Lötschberg railway tunnel
We meet at Frutigen railway station and then take a guided tour of the new tunnel. Information on the tunnel is available here http://www.blsalptransit.ch/en/frameset_e.htm and here http://www.bls.ch/d/infrastruktur/neat.php
Afterwards we take the train though the old tunnel to Goppenstein and then a bus up the Lötschen valley and spend the night at Hotel Breithorn in Blatten. 6 Double rooms are pre-reserved under the name "Hulbert". Please book your place by phone - number and price below. The pre-reservation can be held until 1 June.
Hike in Lötschental
After breakfast the following morning we take the bus up to Fafleralp, from where we hike towards the Anen Lake beside the Lang Glacier. Depending on ambition level, some people might prefer a shorter walk up the stream towards the glacier.

If you want to take part in this event please send an email already now to the organiser so that we can see if we should reserve a second group for the tunnel visit. Also state how many people and if you will stay on overnight in Blatten for the hike. You also need to book your hotel yourself, as indicated under "registration".
How to get there
From Basel, Bern, Zurich its probably best to take the train to Frutigen via Bern. It is probably cheaper to buy one return ticket all the way to Fafleralp and break the journey in Frutigen and Blatten - check this when you buy the ticket. There is also a car park at the Frutigen station,
From Geneva Lausanne or Valais, it is probably best to travel by car or train via Goppenstein, (if you go by car can leave it in Goppenstein and continue to Frutigen by train)

Registration
- Please inform the organiser, using the link below if you will attend, and how many people. This is essential for the Tunnel visit organisation, and to keep track of how many rooms are booked.- For the tunnel visit, children must be at least seven years old
- Please book your hotel room at Hotel Breithorn, CH-3919 Blatten / Lötschental, Tel. 027 9391466. 6 Double rooms are provisionally reserved until 1 June.
- When you book the hotel, please say you are in the "Hulbert Group"
Cost
The tunnel visit will cost about Fr. 16.- per person. The hotel rates will be Fr. 60 per person in a double room with shower or bath, including breakfast. Single occupancy Fr. 85.- (some cheaper single rooms with shower in the corridor are also available).Programme
