Imaging fluidised beds by electrical capacitance tomography
In the past ECT has been used to visualise the gas-solids distribution in fluidised beds. Recently, new developments have been made to visualise and measure pharmaceutical fluidised beds by ECT, in particular the moisture distribution. Test results of drying, granulation and coating processes on lab-scale, semi-industrial-scale and production-scale fluidised beds will be presented. Future development will also be discussed. There will be a live demonstration of an ACECT system.
