The young members section (YMS) of IET Malaysia network (formerly IEE Malaysia branch) was formed in November 2003. The inaugural meeting was held on the 4th of November 2003. It was officially launched on the 8 th of December 2003 by Prof. John O'Reilly, Senior Vice-President of IEE at that time.

The young members section represents all young IET members below the age of 35. The role of the YMS is to provide professional carrier guidance and also to promote the IET to our young and upcoming engineers, especially fresh graduates from universities. The YMS committee also organizes technical visits and talks.

The YMS has also been very involved in the student chapters. At present we have eleven (11) student chapters established at the local universities.

Monthly meetings are held between the YMS committee and the student chapters, aimed to assist them in their drive for new members and activities. The student chapters have their own individual websites and all types of events from competitions to fellowship and friendly games are listed there. The student chapters also organize technical trips to various organizations.
