About this event
Sustainable design, sustainable development, design with nature, environmentally sensitive design, holistic resource management are some of the terms used to describe a GREEN BUILDING DESIGN.
Regardless of what it's called, a sustainable habitat with the capability of natural and cultural systems being continued over time, should be the single most important factor in any building design.
Benefits from such designs will include environmental benefits from reduced impacts on natural resource consumption, economic benefits from lower operating costs, health and safety benefits for enhanced occupant comfort and health, community benefits from minimized strain on local infrastructure and improved quality of life.
In order to facilitate positive results for the environment, occupant health and financial return and to prevent “GREENWASHING”, the United States Green Building Council defined “GREEN” by providing a standard for measurement. This process is identified as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
The presenter will discuss Green concepts and the certification process with few case studies.
