I am a member with a non member account. How can I convert it?

Unfortunately it is not possible for you convert a non-member account to a member account online.

Please contact us using the membership enquiry form, or call our Member and Customer Services Centre quoting your IET membership number and registered username.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password via MyIET, My account, then click on the 'personal details' tab. Once you have entered and verified your new password, scroll down and click on 'update'.

The password must be least 8 characters long and contains at least two digits. Click the update password button. If your new password does not obey the rules set out on the page, you will be shown an error message. Please read the message - it explains the cause of the problem and recommended course of action.

If you are not logged in and you cannot remember your password, you can reset it by going to the reminder page. You will need to enter your registered email address and surname and check the 'I have forgotten my password' box. If you are an IET member you will also be required to to confirm your identity.

A unique secure password reset link will then be sent to your registered email address, which you will need to use within 48 hours of receipt. When you click on this link, a password reset page will open in your browser where you will be able to enter and verify a new password.

You will then be able to login with your username and new password.

If you cannot access your registered email address, please contact the IET Webmaster.

Can I change my username?

No. Unfortunately, at present it is not possible for you to change your username.

If you wish to change your username, please contact the IET Webmaster asking to be informed as to when this function is available.

Can I add/change my listed qualifications online?

No. It is not possible to add/change your listed qualifications online.

Please contact our Member and Customer Service Centre who will update your membership record.

How can I change my email address?

You can change your email address via MyIET, My account, then click on the 'personal details' tab.

If you cannot access your registered email address, please contact the IET Webmaster.

If you are an IET member with an IET email alias and wish to update your forwarding address please contact us at email: mailserv@theiet.org quoting your IET email alias, the old forwarding address, your new forwarding address and your IET membership number.

How can I change my home/work address?

You can change your home and work addresses under the ‘My account’ section, once you have logged into your ‘MyIET’.

How do I change my electronic and postal communication options?

Once you have logged in to your ‘MyIET’, you can change your communications preference under the ‘My account’ section, and the type of information you receive under the ‘Interests’ section.

Please note that if you change your registered postal address it could take a few weeks before IET mail starts going to your new address as due to the size of the mailings, address labels are often printed some weeks in advance. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.
