Hi,
How am I going to know whether the transformer tank can withstand of pressure 10PSI instead 8PSI ? The calculation only involved bending stress and deflection ? Sorry, I'm new to this problem. Regards Linspire |

We need more information. What size of transformer, which fluid, why the increase in presure?

Sorry, I mean customer requires 10PSI normally, but the supplier provides 8PSI model.
Did request calculation to proof 8PSI is sufficient enough, however only received calculation of bending stress values & deflection values. Does this two calculation mean anything ? |

They probably can't answer the question, but I would get the supplier's confirmation in writing, for any proposed deviance to their technical specification, or applicable standard of manufacture. It's all about calculation, design and type/proof testing. Obviously related to "bending stress values & deflection values".

What does the customer say? If I received a transformer pressurised at 8psi instead of the 10psi I had specified, or pressurised at 10psi when the manufacturers documentation said 8psi, either the transformer would not be staying on site for long, or the commissioning (and therefore final payments) would not be happening. I would expect a document requesting the change, backed up by the manufacturers documentation where relevant! Regards, Alan. |

alancapon,
Actually I plan do as what you suggested, before I do so, I need to find out what/why/how these calculation they provided. I even read through IEC paper (600289) which does not specify the pressure ? Haha..well, first time gone through this problem. Thank you alancapon for you suggestion. |

For this transformer, what is:
- the voltage ratio - the power rating - the insulating medium - what is the tank pressurised with? Regards, Alan. |
