29 September 2009 05:02 PM icoggan Posts: 25 Joined: 26 November 2002 I want to know the equations for calculating the approximate voltage at a point X metres away from an earthing grid I have designed. I have seen many pictures of these kind of plots, I know some come from FEA techniques - I do not intend to get into that. See page 10 of IEEE80-2000 for an example. I have a complete model of my earthing grid & rods in Mathcad and can calculate all the critical design values such as Step / Touch Voltage, based on IEEE80-2000, once the input data is defined. I want to create a contour plot of the voltages within the grid meshes and also the tail off in the area surrounding the installation - its not exactly critical - this is a design verification tool - but it would be good to find out how to achieve this. Perhaps there is some help within BS 7430:2011 (perhaps section 9.6.2.2)? If you do ever find an answer I would appreciate you posting it back into this forum! Regards, Ian
