Has anyone had any experience of doing the route of HNC -> HND -> BEng.
Im looking to the future as Im currently on my HNC. I do plan to go onto BEng after HND (in 2 years) but all the 'top-up' courses are a good 40+ miles away from me (St Helens). Has anyone managed to get onto the final year of a standard BEng with a HND rather than the dedicated top up courses as Liverpool and Manchester are only down the road. What obstacles did you come across if you did manage to do it? ------------------------- Christopher Jones Linked In - http://www.linkedin.com/in/chrissj91 |

You might want to take a look at University of Bradford part-time degree by distance learning http://www.edt.brad.ac.uk/Part-Time-Courses/

Hi Chris,
I followed the vocational route of apprenticeship, ONC, HNC & HND in 'Electrical & Electronic Engineering'. I then started a distance learning top up degree - 'BSc (Hons) Engineering Management' at the University of Lincoln. The top up degree takes you into the final year and can be completed entirely distance learning (I am completing it in South Africa!). I am partway through this course and I must admit, it seems very good. I can work at my own pace and once I submit a draft assignment, I generally get feedback within a few hours. Feel free to send me a message for more info if you are interested. Cheers, Darren Jones |

Cheers for the help guys,
I must admit he Bradford one looks very appealing and is actually accredited which is a bonus. It also fits in with my day release from work which is an added bonus. I've also had discussions with course leaders at Blackburn which is a lot closer (also accredited) and managed to get information off of them about it. http://www.blackburn.ac.uk/cou...ronic-engineering-hnd/ ------------------------- Christopher Jones Linked In - http://www.linkedin.com/in/chrissj91 |

I did my HNC, HND and B.Eng at Blackburn over the last few years and overall it was an excellent experience.
If you have any questions about the course or modules, answered from the perspective of a mature, working student, then just shout up. Edited: 05 December 2012 at 06:03 PM by Gruff |
