A professional engineer (P. Eng) by definition is one whose academic
qualification & experience will be in conformity with the internationally mutually
acceptable standards.
After evaluation of competency by the National Committee of the relevant
engineering discipline, the applicant engineer is certified as a "Professional Engineer" by
a Board for Certification of Professional Engineers (BFC).
