Hi, I have 7years of relevant work experience, but since I finished my BEng degree I haven't got a job yet. Is it possible to get professional registration as IEng? On the info page it asks about the job I'm doing but as I'm unemployed at the moment this doesn't fit. I'm currently getting my membership upgraded from student to MIET.

The key issue here is to establish if your achievements and responsibilities at work, or activities during the degree, provide evidence of the IEng competences set out in UK-SPEC.
The IET requires the competence to be "current" but being unemployed is not a barrier. However I would not advise you to apply unless you have held a recent role which illustrates IEng responsibility. Although you may meet some of the requirements this could be established more informally by a Professional Registration Advisor. I trust you are aware of all the opportunities IET membership provides including IET Connect. Good luck in gaining suitable employment soon! ------------------------- Roy Bowdler IEng FIET FCIPD IET Registration & Standards |

All I knew is that my BEng Telecoms course was accredited by the IET as part way towards CEng so I didn't know if I could just apply for IEng instead.
