Our electical contractors wholesaler is telling them that 8foot fluorescent tubes are no longer being manufactured, or manufacture is about to cease, and as such they are very difficult to source. We have a large number of these fittings on our site (albeit relatively aged) which this would affect, and we will need to start looking at alternatives as/when tubes fail in the future. Can anyone advise if this is infact true, and whether they are hearing the same advice. Obviously this will be an expensive exercise over the course of time, so we would like to be sure that we are not acting on a rumour that may not be entirely true.

Graeme. Not heard of this one. however Have you tried changing an 8ft tube? Suggest that with H&S assessments this is a 2man job + working up ladders. , suspect everyone is now ordering 5ft, so 8ft are not cost effectoive to manufacture.
regards. Peter
