I need to do a like for like replacement of a simple bulkhead emergency light fitting, The existing one is usually off but can be switched on, the wiring consists of unswitched live, switched live, neutral and earth.
When I go to the shop I am given the alternative of a maintained or a non maintained fitting. The maintained fitting is advertised as having the option of being switched but when I look inside, I find that the required wiring is live, neutral, earth and 2 wires to the switch, presumably because the switch circuit operates at a different voltage. Is there any way of knowing from the technical description whether the fitting requires a single switched live or a 2 wire circuit to the switch? |
