a bit puzzled by all the above.
I have a German-made reading lamp in which the head is made up of seven rows of four LEDs and they can be switched to use one or four or seven Rrows. Certainly wHhen the batteries are newly charged lIight, even a single row, is painfully dazzling; when the batteries of nearing exhaustion so the lights steadily dim. This does seem too simple to be true - am I missing something?

Because of its 7x 4 construction the device seems to throw a circular beam which will light up an entire room no matter the power setting.I use it as a torch but I do have a powerful grip!
