Has any one installed any dimmable LED strip lighting?
I have a request from 'the boss' to put it underneath the new kitchen wall units instead of halogen or strip lights. From what I can see it looks pretty easy to install but would welcome any guidance. |

I brought some LED strips from IKEA and had a play with them. I found they could be dimmed simply by connecting them to a 12V variable PSU. The recognised method for dimming LED's is PWM, a chip is available. If you try to fit a standard dimmer to the supplied PSU with the LED's, it may complain and fail. Good luck.

Check here . There is a wiring diagram at the bottom of page. You can also find dimmable drivers on their website. Btw, is it possible to add extra switches to dimmer so it would be 2-way operated? First post here, uff, luck :-) Jack |

I brought some LED strips from IKEA and had a play with them. I found they could be dimmed simply by connecting them to a 12V variable PSU. I had no idea that it is possible to dim LED strips. That is great and I will definitely try to dim mine because I also have one in the kitchen and I think it would look nice if the light is a bit dimmed. |

There is a dutch website where they sell, cheap LED-sets. The quality is really good though and it is still a lot cheaper then a lot of the webshops in the UK.

The LED strips is dimmable only by connecting to a dimmer in the circuit. It will be not difficult.

any LED strip can be dimmed, if you connect a dimmer between the

LED is a semiconductor device, just like that used in microchips and electronic equipment. It is manufactured in a totally different way to conventional lights. The colour of an LED is not an afterthought added in the final stage, or even after, manufacture, as it often is with other types of light. The colour of an LED is set by the particular chemicals used during the fundamental manufacture of the device.

It's not the LEDs that are dimmable it's the driver or power supply that is connected to them. You can get simple remote control dimmer switches for single colour strips (like the RGB ones) which are the easiest and cheapest to fit. Dimming LED strips with a wall switch can get quite complicated and expensive. Search for LED Strip Fit, they have a huge range of accessories.

Some of these LED lighting systems imported from China and the Far East have very poor EMC protection. They interfere with DAB and Band 2 broadcasting.

Why on earth are links disabled? It makes the forum practically useless If they weren't, then these forums would be packed with spammers promoting their products. As it is, we keep getting people posting thinly disguised adverts, usually tacked on to the end of old discussions (like this one). At the moment, their adverts fail miserably, because the links to their web sites don't work. hi,friend,very easy to install the LED strips,if you want to the led strips dimmable,you need get a LED strip dimmer,connect the LED strips to LED dimmer,after connect LED dimmer to LED power supply,so that you can control the brightness of LED strip by LED dimmer.
