Dear All, can anyone advise the URL for changing the forwarding address of the alias?

Thanks.

To change an existing one, email aliassupport@theiet.org.

To register a new one:

Is there a form for changing your existing forwarding address or is it still down to contact at the email address above? Jus tbeen looking round the new site and can't find anything on email alias.

There is no better place to find good advice than from people who have gone through it before.

Any information on how long it usually takes to change the forwarding address?

I requested a change to aliassupport@theiet.org on 19/10. Three working days later the address has not been updated, nor have I received any acknowledgement of my request or any other indication of the status of my request.

It is interesting to note that the first paragraph on the alias info page indicates '...instantly update your own unique, personalised email address...' - Obviously not !

Apologies that your change was delayed. It has now been made.

Changes to aliases are not and never have been implemented immediately. This would imply a level of automation that is not really feasible, given the systems involved and the other email services that they provide. I have asked for the wording on the page to which you referred to be corrected. If you use the alias service, you only have to notify the IET of a change to your email address, and not the many organisations who may use it to contact you; this, rather than immediate change, is the main advantage.

However, your expectation of a change within three working days was reasonable, and I am sorry that we failed to meet this on this occasion.
