I simply can't afford the membership fees any more. I can't believe how much they have gone up recently. I am making so many sacrifices to keep afloat at this difficult financial time and the IET has to be one of those to go.
If I choose not to renew this coming time and thus loose my membership, can I re apply in a few years when hopefully my finances recover and I can afford it again or will I never be able to be a member again if I leave now? What would be involved in re-applying? Do you need to give proof of all career details as these have been lost over time?
I am a MIET status and have been a member for about 20 years.

If you leave you will have to apply again for post nominals when you come back.

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine....

You could also apply for reduced subscription of 50%.

As long as you re-apply within 3 years of leaving you will not need to be re-assessed and so will be able to rejoin as Member with designatory letters MIET. If you re-apply after a period of 3 years then you will need to be re-assessed.

Don't we have a hardship fund for these cases?
