Why all of a sudden do we have an Airfield Engineering Topic, when for a few years now, we Mechanicals have been calling for a Mechanical Engineering Technical Discussion heading, to which the response seemed to be , "Use the Manufacturing Heading for your discussions"

We Engineers are all third class now - we're being run for the benefit of career journalists.

I think you all have a good point. However, rather than bitching about it why not join the electricals and contribute collectively to looking at suitable qualifications & competency etc for airfield engineering personnel whether electrical, mechanical, civil, optical. Afterall, if you look at the airfield lighting specifically (and that is what the AGL Competency & Safety Working Group is doing in the absence of anything else fro the CAA , H&S Executive or otherwise ), and inset lighting in the pavement particularly, then all 4 engineering aspects are DIRECTLY involved. Details can be obtained from Steve Martin on steve.martin@emcoruk.com Regards. Keith COSTALL
