The era we are living in is an era of technical development. Technology is improving so rapidly that one can just get surprised. Latest developments have give all fields of life a new dimension. Particularly, talking about vehicle, there was an age when vehicles were using old two stroke engine that used to create a lot of noise and air pollution. With the passage of time the Auto Engineering made new developments and we get rid of these old vehicles. Now-a-days, the latest technology is Hybrid Car. A hybrid car is a type of vehicle which uses two types of power sources. These sources are an electric motor and a small combustion engine.

The most beneficial feature of the hybrid car is that it does not create pollution and thus is great for environment as it uses the power from the engine to get started and then to keep the car running they use stored electricity created by battery packs which are stored in the trunks. Honda and Toyota are the leaders to use hybrid technology and to introduce hybrid cars. But almost every car manufacturer is using this technology. The reason that hybrid cars are becoming more popular is that they are not only fuel efficient, but also less harmful to the environment.

I would be careful talking about "no pollutions". Somebody has to produce and burn quite some coal to create electricity which moves this car! How about this causing a pollution in poor countries, where these resources are produced?!

Furthermore, hybrid cars have petrol or diesel engines to back up the battery, so there's only no pollution when running solely on battery.

Have a look at the Top Gear episode in which they show a BMW M3 is more fuel efficient than a Toyota Prius.

That wasn't exactly a typical road driving situation, though.

Obviously you are quite surprised then to know they do create pollution. Pollution to produce the energy to charge the battery, pollution when using diesel and pollution during their manufacture. Keep your old car serviced, tyres at the correct pressure, weight to a minimum (remove uneccessary items from the boot etc.) and reduce the speed at which you drive it and you will reduce its harm to the environment.

Regards.

Yes, I agree that electric cars are not as efficient as small engine Miller cycle cars. I took my 1 litre to Wales recently and covered the 400 miles using just £40 of fuel. There is no way an electric battery car can achieve this, particularly as I had the heater running most of the time. However, there were exhaust gases that are polluting. Electric cars not hybrids are really ideal for flat city low mileage uses, clean air; although unless you have a special night tariff still not competitive cost wise with the tiny car or motor bike.

Sadly, the present Hybrid technology is only a new marketing scheme, for manufacturers to establish their global Eco-friendly image, and increase their product range.
