Yesterday the WCML suffered severe disruption from OHL failures at Berkhamsted. Earlier today it was joined by the ECML at Welwyn GC. Both problems now seem to have been cleared.
Yesterday's problems seemed to take the staff at Milton Keynes station by surprise, and passengers were told to find their own way to their destinations, (i.e. no coaches offered) so I ended up driving a friend caught up in the mess to Birmingham New Street so that she could get a train to mid-Wales. Yesterday's weather whilst wintry wasn't spectacular in any way, so what is the problem with the OHL system? M Stewart MIET Milton Keynes |

Got caught in the same disruption myself trying to get back to Liverpool from London.
I used to manufacture OHL components for Balfour Beatty to use on the West Coast mainline but they seem to have gone elsewhere now. Would be interesting to know if the problem was caused by using "lower cost " components !!! |
