Does anyone have any solutions to reduce the static built up in a car so that when the driver reaches to the ticket machine they do not instigate a discharge to earth?

This won't get rid of the discharge issue altogether but...
If you hold a metal key and tap it on an earthed metallic object (such as the ticket machine) you should discharge through the key without the shock. Regards, Ian. ------------------------- irevans |

Alternatively, as you get out of the car, hold onto a metal part of the door frame. That way you won't build up the static charge in the first place.
