I am currently writing my MSc Dissertation on using renewable generation to power water electrolysis to form Hydrogen to use with renewable Carbon dioxide from Anaerobic treatment or carbon capture in an exothermic catalysed reaction known as the sabatier process. This will result in Methane. Energy + CO2 + 4H2 = CH4 + 2H2O. The methane can be stored or injected directly into the gas grid and used in Combined Cycle Gas Turbines or Gas turbines for balancing. Can anyone help me with up to date power generation data and intermittency of supply data or on the Methanation process?
Thanks.

Hi Lee;
I suggest you contact William Leighty, Alaska Applied Sciences on this topic. Bill is a proponent of producing ammonia gas from renewable electricity. He presented a paper on this at IEEE-PES GM2013 in Vancouver - see http://pes-gm.org/2013/. It is Paper GM2190 entitled "Alaska's Renewables-Source Ammonia Fuel Energy Storage Pilot Plant. Toward Community Energy Independence."
Bill's e-mail address is: wleighty@earthlink.net. Best regards; Jim McConnach
