DECC has just set out its Proposals for implementation of Electricity Market Reform and is now consulting on them. Consultation closes 24th December 2013.

Proposals for implementation of Electricity Market Reform

The government seems to be operating an adjustment formula on the strike prices so that generators are not paid under the CfD arrangements for excluded electricity, which is energy the Energy Intensive Industries use. Exact arrangements for what Energy Intensive Industries pay (and what the hard pressed consumer pays on their behalf) will be published later in the Autumn apparently.

How the costs will eventually be passed on to the consumer and what will and will not be subject to VAT is completely beyond me.

A difficult read, not for the faint hearted...
