Hello all, I'm trying to track down a manufacturer of a 3 second delay handle. Its a flat handle about 250mm long, it doesn't have any moving or hinged parts. I've tried various web searches to no-avail.

Please state the make and model of the switchgear you are trying to operate. Most handles are specific to a specific model.

Thanks for the reply, i think its a semi-universal handle for a couple of makes, oil gear not gas, and its not long/crawford, merlin, sws. As far as im aware. I'll double check when im in the office on Monday. Its one of those handles that get passed down rather than brought new, our stores are out of stock. So ive been trawling the web for possibles.

I know having used for manual closing of Oerlikon make Minimum oil circuit breakers in 22kv Distribution nertwork , way back in eighties, These barekers were having series trip relay and manual spring operated mechanism , no DC power was used for breaker operation.
The handles were removable , similar to one used for manual cranking in older vehilcle. |

Try some of the secondhand switchgear companies such as RF winder or Slaters.
The flat metal bar, does it have an end shaped similar to the letter R ? |

Thanks, i'll drop them an email. Nope it doesn't look like a "R" I've managed get some photo but don't know how to attach them. Its about 300mm long by 60mm by 15mm thick, the business end has a slotted top and fits over a stub handle on the switch gear. This probably makes no sense.

It looks like a Tyke RMU operating handle, which is YSE i think so try Schneiders at Leeds.
There isn't much to the operating handle, should be simple enough for a machine shop to knock one up. Failing that, both the on/off and earth switches on the gear can be operated without using the handle, or by placing a metal tube over the end. You'll loose the 3sec delay, but apart from that it works. Alan |

I agree with Alan that it looks similar to a Yorkshire tyke/FMS operating handle, and that it should be fairly easy to get a copy made.
I would be very cautious about using somthing that did not have the break back facility. Switchgear handles were modified to the break back style for very good reasons. |

Thank you everyone for your imput, I'm gonna have a email round the firms mentioned and see what they come up with, if no luck i'll probably make one, its just easier to buy one
 . I don't think i'll try the alternitive method, i'd like to keep my authorisation once i get it.
