For those people who hate the harsh flickering light of fluorescents and have hoarded 60W and 100W tungsten bulbs to avoid having to use them (not me, but many people have done this), this will be a welcome story...

He believes the first production runs will take place in 2013. He also has great faith in the ability of the new bulbs to last. What do you mean by "harsh flickering of fluorescents"? This seems to be a restricted problem: a faulty tube "giving notice" of its imminent expiry or alternatively there is the 100Hz stroboscopic effect, now obsolete with electronic (HF inverter) ballasts. Some may find the light intensity or colour temperature uncomfortable, but that seems a separate problem!
