Can anyone provide guidance for the following IEC60079 question please?

. The area classification is Non Hazardous
. The equipment installed is Ex certified
. Can I remove the certified equipment from the Ex register, but keeping the certification label intact on the equipment?
. How does the equipment then get identified as not requiring Ex maintenance if inspected?
. Any additional labelling required?

Any guidance is very much appreciated.

I can't see a problem with removing the equipment from the register if it is not located in a hazardous area. Assuming the site has a drawing indicating the location and extent of hazardous areas any future confusion can be cleared up by referring to this which the inspectors should have anyway.

I have seen Ex equipment installed in non-hazardous areas before (either due to over specified equipment or the nature of the plant changing) and just ignore it when carrying out a hazardous area inspection. We would normally have a hazardous area drawing so would know the area is non -hazardous and the equipment did warrant inspecting

I agree with Neil. Remove equipment data from inspection register. But do keeep labels on equipment. If queried you can show the Hazardous Area Classification Zone drawings. I found that with changes of use / production areas went in and out of zoning. Also EPS 'Ex' equiment may get relocated back into a zoned area, where it will require its certification .
best wishes. Peter
