Judging by the advert on the radio this morning, the "rent a roof" installers grab all of the FITs for themselves, and the customers just get the free electricity during the day.

That's why I forked out to buy my own solar panels . It's a lot of money to pay out up-front, but I look upon it as a long-term investment.
