Could anybody advise if there is any central body who maintain a formal or informal register of possible switching or operating limitations on the GF3, TFGF3 Ringmain oil switchgear?
Is there a register of switchgear modifications that may have needed to be made since the original manufacture following faults found in service. The units I am looking into were manufactured in around 1972? Does anybody have a manufacturers manual for this equipment they could let me have? Many thanks for any assistance you can offer. |

Defects in HV / LV switchgear, transformers, cables and associated items are reported through a scheme run by the Energy Networks Association, under a system called NEDERS. The information recorded is available to paid up member and associate companys.

Long & Crawford became Areva, although your best bet would be refurbished switchgear suppliers (Winders, Slaters Electrical etc).
A friendly DNO would also be able to advise of switchgear mods as DNO's operate and maintain this switchgear all across the country.

You could also try EPDL in St Helens. This firm was started by experienced personnel from L&C and they continue to support the products.

I would also recomend EPDL, they have some of the Engineers who probably built the units you are working on, and know them inside and out.
