Morning folks,
Can anyone please advise if they've carried out, or used a 3rd Party, to carry out TDR Testing on cables? We currently have a 16km Umbilical where we suspect there's a fault in one of the power cables (2c 10mm2). The other power cable is currently powering the equipment subsea so cannot be shut off for testing. We'd like to mobilise a competent, trained 3rd Party to carry out some testing and correctly interpret the results from the Megger TDR, but I'm struggling to find anyone who's available. I'd appreciate a list of companies that can carry out this testing. Thanks for any info, NC. |

Not sure of your location but my employer J+S ltd does this service out of Aberdeen, uk, mainly for offshore oil & gas installations
www.jands.co.uk but can do it anywhere. |

Hi Niall
This is probably a bit late for you but I would not have thought that a megger TDR would be effective at that range. For umbilical applications you would be looking at needing to use a SebaKMT T30E ( strangely enough since your original post megger has actually bought the Seba) it has a range of around 60km. We have meggers, Biccotest and Seba T30E in our hire fleet and I can recommend a number of extremely experienced users if anyone wants to drop me a line. ------------------------- Regards Paul Tuson Inlec Test Equipment Hire |
