I am working on re-equiping a substation and wondered if anyone knows of a British or Eurpoean standard for minimum access, such as two ways in and out, one meter clearance between boards etc? At they moment they all seem to be "rules of thumb" which doesn't make a good case for wanting a bigger building!

Hello dmroberts,

Key issues on which the EAW Regulations And Electricity (Factories Act) Special Regulations 1908 And 1944 (Plus Exemptions) differ:

Appendix 3 of the Memorandum of Guidance gives information on reg. 17 of the old regulations in relation to the new provisions. The minimum dimensions for switchboard passage-ways are given tacit approval.
