Hi all,

I have been tasked with a job to sense the level of liquid in a tank.

Very simply done except, it has to be non contact with the liquid for hygienic purposes and the liquid is USP water at 65 Celsius.

I am considering an ultrasonic level sensor , has anybody used these before and in a tank with possibility of misting.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ultrasonic is the first obvious solution although there are alternatives.
Several manufacturers to choose from; misting shouldn't cause any difficulties.

On sales enquiry you should have details to hand such as:
- tank type/shape
- sensing distance
- sensor mounting arrangement
- output to display / remote analogue signalling

Vega and Endress & Hauser can supply non contact radars/ultra sonic level probes for your application. I believe the are not dependant on process conditions such as temp, misting, pressure
e.g. Vegapuls 63
