Hi
I have been asked to do an MTBF calculation and have not done this before. I have a number of questions: 1. If I use MIL-STD-217F there are two update notices to this. Should I include those so the standard becomes MIL-STD-217F Notice 1 & 2. 2. I was thinking of using the parts count method. I will just add up FITS of all components on PCBs, and then inter-system components and wiring etc to get a total some of all parts and then reciprical is the MTBF. 3. If I get data from manufacturers data sheet I should know the prediction method that was used otherwise it will invalidate the result i.e. you cannot mix 217F with Telcordia 233 failure rates. It doesn't always look like manufacturers state the method used on datasheet? Br Edward |
