i have a small building to wire. i have added up the electrical load of the circuits allowing for diversity on the sockets and have a load of 244 amps. that load is this in real terms. the exising building is huge and is only taking 100 amps i am told. the have allowed 40 amps over 3phase to cover the additional building. im guessing some think needs to be done to the 244 amps.

Hi Justin,
How many sockets do you have and have you used a realistic diversity factor. Also, when assuming the loads of the sockets do you have any information on what is going to be plugged into them?

Is the 244A to be spread over the three phases?

Is there only sockets to be supplied?

You say it's a small building, but 244A at 230V is 56kW.

Are the total loads in the building really going to add up to 56kW? If you start dissipating that much heat in a small building, will everything inside be cooked?

Justin , please to be on the safe side , calculate your Diversity Factor; that will give you the right cable , socket switches etc
