A technical 'Digital Media Initiative' project at the BBC cost nearly £100 million and delivered zero benefit; which was blamed on software.

"Earlier in proceedings, former BBC chief operating officer Caroline Thomson was quizzed over her pay-off, which amounted to £600,000 with a pension pot worth £2 million.

How many times do we hear from these failures that we need to pay top money to get top people and then when they fail the sanction is to pay yet more top money. This is what is wrong in much of today's management......succeed and get top money and fail and get top money.

"The BBC responded to the report by saying it has now adopted new procedures for managing big projects."

Wow yipee BBC you have adopted new procedures, well let's hope the person who wrote them is better than the last person and the 1st line of the procedure states 'employ a competent engineer to oversee the project'.
