Hi all,
I am wanting to move all our paper/excel base PPM on to computer using some CMMS software. What are people using for this? - I am wanting to be able to create work orders for jobs which randomly come up, print out the scheduled weekly maintenance for 3 maintenance engineers, and have different frequencies for these. - Equipment inventory - I would like to integrate our spares in with the maintenance system eventually. - Record breakdowns of machines and try to get some logic to the break downs of each machine etc Any other ideas would be great. Sorry to disappoint but I have no experience of such s/w.
I'm something of a FOSS* evangelist so whenever someone asks for a s/w package, I usually try to point them in the direction of some sort of Open Source package from a reputable developer organisation such as Apache, LibreOffice from The Document Foundation, Inkscape and Gimp for graphics work, Scilab or Scicoslab for serious maths. If you are not looking to develop the software and want a cost effective bespoke solutions you could look for a web based solution that runs on the SQL platform. My company has a limited maintenance staff as has your own. My jstifications were based on the small number of staff we had and the effort required by all of the staff to maintain an effective maintenance function for our company. We also used one of the many ROI calculators. SIVECO have/had one for their COSWIN software. We eventually agreed on a web based package by SOFTSOLs. Take a look and see what you thinks. The initial, two and five year costs and the CBA's pointed clearly to this package.
