It is probably no exaggeration to say that IT operations are now the single most-regulated part of any organisation (which is kind of ironical considering that IT professionals are not necessarily required to be licenced or certified in order to practice). The IET's E&T magazine has just published an IT Legislation Guide that outlines the laws and regulatory compliances that apply to the IT function in the UK and much of Europe. The IT Legislation Guide references also skills- and policy-oriented industry frameworks and initiatives that, although not necessarily mandated by law, look likely to inspire future legal requirements with respect to specific aspects of the practice and operation of IT.
The Guide is available as a downloadable PDF. I'd be interested to hear any views/opinions regarding the issue of the escalating regulatory compliances that IT practices is now subject to. James Hayes - Editor, IT section, E&T magazine Edited: 25 August 2010 at 10:23 AM by jhayes2 |
