I have been working on SEPIC switched mode supplies for a while now and so far have not been able to find any definitive information about when this type of converter appeared or about who may be credited as it's creator and where it was developed.
In comparison it is quite straightforward to find information about the origins of the Cuk Converter. I'm not looking for design or applications information, just background information about the origins of the SEPIC. Sort of "whodunnit". Does anyone have any background information or pointers to where I can find out more?
