why is it important that rectifiers function with little ripple?
What critical component of the rectifier needs the closest inspection and why? |

Hi ,
Your question is not quite clear. Are you refering to juncrion diode rectifier or bridge recctifier or rectifiers used in automobile applications ( such as in alternators ) ? In case of junction diode rectifire, ther is no necessity to have ripple for diode's correct operation. for example, diode rectifiers are used as supply voltage polarity reversal protection device in DC application where there is no such ripple.
