Is it advisable to opened up a sealed electrical heater especially on its 2 yearly maintenance so as to find/ inspect whether the coil is ok/ not scaling at the surface? A friend said that is better to leave it until the heater itself breakdown due to reasons of seals breaking, may damage the heating surface when dismantling from the casing etc.

Hi Nazmi,

I would recommend against opening it up otherwise you may be liable for any future misdemeanors caused by device failure!

It's crazy - agreed, but that seems to be the way it is going!

Just make sure all protective measures are satisfied - earth continuity, insulation resistance and the like.

Regards
Michael
