Hi. I'm trying to design a level system for a tank and i need to specify a control valve and orifice plate.

I have calculated the size of orifice plate and am now working out the size of the control valve.

Do I need to include the dp across the orifice plate and lump that in as a fixed resistance with the pipe work when working out the available head in in the system? I know that the dp will be variable but do I use the dp under normal working conditions I.e. when flow is at its set point.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can consider dp as 10% of outlet pressure.
