I was just reading an article in a magazine about how standard electric motors lose 2-4% efficiency at 95% rated voltage. It did not comment about what happens to a motor run at overvoltage.
Machines for use in the EU are now required to run at a nominal volatge 400V +/- 10% so most motors are running around 5% over or under voltage. 380V is commonly the nominal supply voltage in mainland Europe Is there are argument for supplying machines with motors efficiency optimised for the local supply voltage despite the requirements of EN60204-1 Electrical Equipment of Industrial Machines? |

Good question, but why do you think this would be 'despite' the requirements of EN 60204-1? (By the way, the "industrial" was dropped in the 1993 edition).
