Could anyone point me in the direction of a SIL2 rated PLC, would be handy if it could also handle analogue inputs.

There is strictly speaking no such thing as a 'SIL2 PLC', rather there are PLC's on the market that can be used in SIL2 applications. You also have to justify the need for the rating, and someone in the scheme of things has to provide calculations
Makes of PLC - Allen Bradley (aka Rockwell), Siemens using failsafe I/O are the 2 favourites but also consider Triconix, Triplex, Emerson and the latest GE kit. That's not to state other makes cannot be used in rated applications. PS. Forgot to mention - any PLC capable of being in a SIL rated system has analogue i/o capability. |

As oneeye states a 'SIL 2 PLC' does not exist. When a manufaturer labels equipment for SIL applications they usually specify the equipment is suitable for SIL loops/systems. Again as Oneeye states most PLC manufaturers produce suitable hardware but you have to determine failure rate data and hence its reliability for the PLC and software to justify it as suitable for the SIL you require.

Check out the PSS 3047-3 from PILZ which we use and is rated for SIL2 Applications.
